MVP of the week — Featuring Gentle Monster and Dr. Martens

Welcome to HUNGER’s Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do, or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what’s hot, what’s not, and what needs to be on your radar…

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can’t rock your shades – who really uses them for functionality, anyway? In that case, you’ll be pleased to hear that Korean label Gentle Monster has revealed their first collection of 2024 with a dreamy campaign by photographer Elizaveta Porodina. As futuristic as always, the collection features refined wrap-around silhouettes in a variety of vibrant colourways, including cherry, lime green, pink and lavender, just to name a few. Meanwhile, a true standout in the collection arrives in the form of the “Goggle” frame, which features a striking sculptured body. So, if you’re looking to take your eyewear game up a few notches this season and beyond, the full collection is now available to shop online.

It’s time to whack on that eyeliner and head down to the saloon because Dr Martens have just released their Gothic Americana collection. The iconic footwear brand’s latest drop infuses their classic silhouettes with western inspiration and subcultural influences, creating footwear that’ll turn any cowboy into a My Chemical Romance fan. The collection features six shoes and one satchel, all constructed from lightweight black Wanama leather and adorned with contrasting white embroidery. The redesigned silhouettes, the Jorge slide, Chelsea boot, 1460 boot, 1461 shoe, Adrian loafer, Monk Strap Quad and crossbody bag are all available to purchase online and in-store.

Another day, another Stüssy collab – and today it’s a big one. Revered drum and bass label Metalheadz and one of its members, the cultural icon that is Goldie, have teamed up with the streetwear brand in celebration of their 30th anniversary. Included in the collab is the standout Varsity Jacket, which features the label’s iconic logo on both the front and back and arrives in black with contrasting white sleeves. Meanwhile, other styles included in the four-piece collection are two t-shirts featuring prints of Goldie himself alongside a snapback adorning the label’s logo once more. The Goldie and Metalheadz x Stüssy collection is now available to shop at Stüssy.com.

For all the sneakerheads out there, Louis Vuitton and Nicolas Ghesquière just revealed their latest silhouette in the form of the LV Rush Sneaker. Debuted as part of the brand’s Cruise collection, the sneaker features a unique hybrid style that blends elements of vintage boxing boots with the modern flair of trail shoes. The LV Rush arrives in a versatile range, including a sneaker boot that extends above the ankle and two low-top sneaker variations – a striking red high-top and a more understated monochromatic version in either white or black. If you’re on the hunt for a shoe that fits just as well in the ring as it does on the trail, the LV Rush is available to shop now online.

Finally, lingerie brand Cou Cou Intimates have released their Valentine’s Day campaign and collection, slickly titled “For You, Not For Them”. The campaign, shot by Guen Fiore, features intimate portraits of Cou Cou girl Sahara Lin, embracing her playfulness and self-love rather than performance for the male gaze. The collection features the brand’s newest colourway, Cherry Red, and includes all of Cou Cou Intimate’s signature styles, such as The Cami, The Cami Slip, The Shorts, The Thong and The High Rise. Shop the collection on Cou Cou Intimates’ website now.
