Escape to Paraíso: Natalia Stuyk’s surreal new installation

Multimedia creative Natalia Stuyk is known for her mind-bending digital art.

From GIFs to fashion films and music video, she has created arresting visuals for the likes of James Blake, Kenzo, Nike and MAC. This month the Hackney-based artist has taken on her most ambitious project so far: creating Paraíso an IRL installation for Galeria Melissa in NYC.

Inspired by an endless summer, Natalia has brought to life an Instagram dream for Melissa’s NYC space with a shimmering, iridescent universe. Full of glistening shards created with dichroic film, the multi-sensory experience is about pure escapism and a haze of warmth “a visual manifestation of feeling too hot to move and not caring about it” she says.

Preview the installation in the video and images below, and see it for yourself until 2ndSeptember at Galeria Melissa, 500 Broadway, NYC.
