At 10, Milla Jovovich was already on the road to becoming one of the most successful models in the world. Having worked for Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts by the age of 11, and named one of Revlon’s “Most Unforgettable Women in the World” at 12, she has since graced over 100 magazine covers. Today Milla is famed as much for her acting as her modelling; after early roles in Return to the Blue Lagoon and the coming-of -age flick, Dazed and Confused, her screen breakthrough came in 1997, when she starred alongside Bruce Willisin Luc Besson’s ultra-stylised futuristic fantasy, The Fifth Element.

She has become a poster girl for the sci-fi action genre, following her starring role in the Resident Evil franchise (the next instalment, Resident Evil: Retribution, is out next year), but part of her heart lies in the smaller films that she has worked on, such as 2002’s Dummy with Adrien Brody. Currently starring in The Three Musketeers with Juno Temple and Orlando Bloom, Jovovich is an action heroine off screen as well as on, managing to throw songwriting, fashion design, martial arts, charity work and motherhood into the mix. “I am a strong Ukrainian girl,” she explains, “that is why I work a lot.”
