The manipulation of everyday objects is the most high-fash statement in 2017 it seems – see Balenciaga’s #BASIC tote bag and Prada’s £150 paper clip – and Fyodor Golan are riding the zeitgeist wave into spring. With a series of looks inspired by Chupa-Chups strawberry taste wrapping, the designer’s shared they “wanted to metamorphose the lollipop,” and “engage in its perception of disposability and turn it into spendour. Casting Chupa-Chups lollipops in gold, silver and rose-gold.”
Metallics and otherworldly references peppered the runway, with shimmery dresses and mirage-style sequin detailing, exploring the idea of a “future where flora and fauna has long gone and life unfolds under blazing sun”. The result? A colour-pop runway featuring futuristic Cali-girls embracing sunrise athleisure, rainbow dresses and tutti frutti printing.
The future is looking bright.
