The ultimate glo up.

[G]uillaume Saur is a visual artist whose idealised curation of neon photography has procured a seamless Instagram feed of stunning three-panelled posts that oscillate the colour spectrum with portrait, documentary and abstract images.

what do you like to take photos of?

Pretty much everything. It actually depends on the subject I want to explore, but lately, I’ve been photographing a lot of minimal stuff, concrete forms, and lines. It was interesting to work on a small scale and put attention on objects that don’t matters in the everyday life because they belong to everyone.

Tell us three reasons why film is not dead

I feel that film photography has been brought back these past years for very good reasons. First of all, it has an incredible quality and possesses a feeling that you can’t get with digital, especially when you shoot medium or large format. Also, I feel that people get sick about digital because everything has to go super fast, so sometimes having a slower process is very helpful to get better images and part of the artistic statement. There is also a lot of new companies that are making new kind of fun films for all films lovers.

Do you consider your photography to be voyeuristic ?

I’m not sure, I would say that it depends on your own personal practices. Sometimes I feel that’s the case for me when I do street photography or intimate photography, but most of the time I don’t feel that way. I think that I consider my work to be exploring and participating to the environment.

Who are your favourite image-makers on Instagram?

I’m in love with Ren Hang‘s work for quite some time now, and I also love Lukasz Wierzbowski a lot. They are amazing and inspiring artists.
