The trip was in aid of Oxfam’s Music Festival, Oxjam. Every year Oxjam celebrates local live music scenes with hundreds of events that are entirely run by a strong army of dedicated volunteers. Money raised at Oxjam Music Festival goes to projects just like the water and bee keeping ones that Graham visited in Ethiopia, and can provide a lifeline in emergencies that Oxfam responds to around the world.
Photographer Dan Medhurst said: “We both visited drought stricken areas that have just recently had wells drilled and the infrastructure to pump clean drinking water, so villagers don’t have to walk all day in the blazing sun. We also met a co-op bee keeping/honey business set up by Oxfam but now run by local women who farm the honey – their pride in their work is incredible. Graham met with local musicians and jammed with them and through it crossed language barriers much more easily. This interaction definitely lead to some really nice moments which I managed to catch on camera…”
