Kenzo have teamed up with our favourite experimental art magazine Toilet Paper for their Autumn/Winter ’13 ad campaign. This is the first campaign that Toilet Paper have created with a fashion house. The magazine was founded in 2010 by artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer PierPaolo Ferrari as an exploration of society’s obsession with imagery.
The series of weird and wonderful surrealist images star American model Sean O’Pry and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi. The images seem to have done the impossible and matched the ingenuity of their previous campaign – a collaboration with renowned artist Jean-Paul Goude now widely known as the ’X campaign’.
Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the founders of Opening Ceremony, became creative directors of Kenzo in 2011. This new campaign clearly demonstrates their continued commitment to the offbeat direction and fresh perspective that has enabled them to revitalise the brand so successfully.
