Ever since the unexpected passing of David Bowie last month tributes to the music legend have poured across cyberspace. Today we showcase a special project from California based filmmaking duo Wiissa who had planned a David Bowie shoot for a while. It was only on the morning of the shoot in Miami that they found out the news of his death.
“We like to think of this as our little tribute to him. His music has been an enormous inspiration for so many of our photos and films, as has his style and his sense of confidence—he wholeheartedly embraces and celebrates being different from the rest. We shot it with my best friend, Amanda (instagram.com/amandaaamus), who I’ve known since I was eight. We grew up trying on makeup and dressing up in costumes together, so it felt like one of our own old sleepovers, as I drew the classic lightning bolt across her face and styled her in a cumulative pile of our pieces. We also sourced some vintage pieces and concert tees from Stoned Immaculate, Bowie-praisin’ patches from Patch Ya Later, and other bold pieces we could imagine David Bowie rocking from Eveliina Vintage. Everything during the shoot fell perfectly into place as “Life On Mars?” softly played in the background”
