Gorgon City Mixtape by The Hunger on Mixcloud

When you’re getting calls to come on radio shows by heavyweights DJ Diplo and underground kings Rinse FM alike, you know you’re doing something right. Foamo and RackNRuin, two independently successful producers from North London quickly realised that stamping all over 2013 could come all the easier if they started working together. Having initially bonded over their mutual love for all things dance, 2-step, hip hop and bashment (their name comes from dancehall godfather Ninjaman’s nickname ‘The Gorgon Don’), their debut release ‘Real’ featuring Yasmin has been played everywhere from Annie Mac on Radio 1 to Eddy Temple-Morris on XFM: suffice to say it’s hurting dancefloors on a similarly national scale.

Mixing sexy back into bass music has always been a tough ask, but Gorgon City are becoming known for exactly this delicate balancing act. Their record label, Black Butter is the current home of crossover phenomenon Rudimental and achingly cool/ ridiculously precocious Kidnap Kid, which makes all kinds of sense.
