We can’t think of a better place to party than Amsterdam and with the city’s ultimate weekend of fun and hedonism almost upon us, we are getting in the mood by taking a look at what we should expect from one of Europe’s top music festivals.
Primarily an electronic event, Pitch has fast become an alternative to the rather more rock based affairs that dominate the summer festival scene. Be warned though, this is an event geared towards dancing, so if you’re there to simply take in some tunes you may very well be in the wrong place. Not quite as established as some of the larger music events, its charm lies in the relaxed vibe that Holland does so well and the incredible acts it seems to attract.
This year’s stellar line-up includes Dizzee Rascal, Azalea Banks and Django Django, as well as Disclosure, Ghostpoet and AlunaGeorge. For the hardcore amongst you, you can dance yourself silly with a range of DJ sets (too many to name here), as well as some silent disco action, which could see you grooving right through until the next day. As per their advice though, you may want to consider booking yourself a room at a hostel to try and get some shuteye throughout the weekend in order to avoid inevitable dance floor collapse.
Right smack in the centre of Amsterdam, the location couldn’t be handier, which means you can come and go as you please should you wish to explore what the rest of the city has to offer – possibly a good plan of action when it comes to food too, as the queues in the festival are reported to be colossal. Running from the 5th-6th July, the usually sun-drenched event is becoming increasingly popular – the addition of a new, larger main stage merely signifying the growth the festival has experienced over the last few years.
And with so many cheap flights
The mix features Cashmere Cat, Disclosure, Cyril Hahn, MØ, Bondax and Bonobo on it as well as a new Dutch artist called Jameszoo and an exclusicve track, especially recorded for this mix by Last Night in Paris.
