See Raf Simons’ first ready-to-wear campaign for Calvin Klein
Somewhere on a desert highway.
[R]af Simons has called on longtime collaborator Willy Vanderperre to shoot his first ready-to-wear campaign as creative director as Calvin Klein. Vanderperre shoots Julia Nobis, Kiki Willems and Seleba Forrest on a highway in the California desert with the direction of the campaign tapping in to Simons’ refined, revamped vision of Americana that he has applied to CK so far.
Intriguingly, in the background of the campaign is a reprisal of “American Classics” campaign, Simons’ first whilst at Calvin Klein, that showed models dressed in Calvin Klein underwear or denim admiring artworks by Richard Prince, Sterling Ruby and Andy Warhol. For AW17 – which, like the show in which the clothes were presented, is a mens and womenswear campaign – the “American Classics” images feature on roadside billboards with models posing in front of them.
