Seven seminal style moments from Dries van Noten

Ahead of the release of a new documentary, we consider seven of our favourite looks from the Belgian designer.

[W]hen it comes to the question of whether fashion can be considered art – there can be no argument that Dries Van Noten is a true artist.

Emerging in the 1980s as part of the iconic ‘Antwerp 6’, the Belgian designer’s cerebral approach to design and otherworldly use of print, texture and embroidery, has cast him as one of fashion’s most celebrated yet elusive talents.

Eschewing traditional advertising to focus only on his runway presentations – his shows are theatrical and emotional, showcasing his decadent, global traveller aesthetic in a way that transports the viewer around the world without having to leave their seat. With the designer’s processes, techniques and habits about to be exposed in a documentary from Reiner Holzemer, we consider seven of our favourite Dries looks.
