Step into the iconic world of Ellen von Unwerth through the ‘LADYLAND’ exhibition

Opening tomorrow is this season's must-see exhibition: Ellen von Unwerth's solo show, Ladyland.

Showcasing the inspiring work of the photographer, Opera Gallery London have collected together some of von Unwerth’s most iconic shots from her career. One of the world’s most renowned women photographers, von Unwerth empowered her subjects with her provocative female gaze. From launching the modelling careers of Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, to working with designers like Azzedine Alaïa and Chanel, Ellen von Unwerth has created some of the most pertinent works of contemporary photography.

Working on some of the most instantly recognisable shoots in fashion history, von Unwerth’s work has graced the pages of Vogue, ELLE and – of course – issue #14 of HUNGER. Celebrating the power of women in an industry and world dominated by men, her photography shows women as strong, free, and independent. To encapsulate her incredible archive and current work, the Ladyland exhibition will be split into three parts: Supermodels, Bavaria, and Frivolities. Spanning fashion, landscapes, eroticism and portraits, it’s an incredible look into her world.

'Kate & David': Kate Moss and David Bowie, Q Magazine, 2003

LADYLAND by Ellen von Unwerth runs from 4th May 2018 until 18th May 2018 at Opera Gallery London, 134 New Bond Street, London, W1S 2TF. Click through the gallery below for a sneak preview.
