[B]etween them Kevin Cummins, Gered Mankowitz and David Montgomery have shot the greatest icons in music history. From Mankowitz’ early-morning, acid influenced shoot on Primrose Hill with the Rolling Stones, to Montgomery’s iconic flaming portrait of Jimi Hendrix and Kevin Cummins’ off-duty David Bowie smoking a cigarette, the three photographers have taken some of the memorable portraits of a generation of rock stars and rebels. As part of a partnership between Rankin and WeTransfer, the same artists have stepped in to photograph the rising stars of today’s music scene.
See behind-the-scenes of the three exclusive shoots in the videos below as Kevin Cummins shoots lo-fi riot act Black Honey, Gered Mankowitz lenses pop rockers Fickle Friends and David Montgomery takes a striking portrait of soul-pop showstopper BETSY. Read more about the project at WeTransfer.
