The young NYC designer-DJ bringing back Lolita sunglasses

J'adore!

If you have a lust for kitschy eyewear – you’ve probably come across TAKESH on Instagram. Founded by LA-born, NYC-based DJ-designer-actress Niki Takesh, the fabulous frames blend Lolita-style heart-shaped sunglasses with a classic 50s cat-eye lens and are already a massive hit with the fashion set (fans include Gucci girl Petra Collins and Ashley Williams.)

“I’ve always just loved aesthetics,” Takesh tells HUNGER. “I left high school a year early and took a few courses at a local community college and studied color theory/ analysis, which fueled my obsession with colours.” The overall aesethtic of TAKESH eyewear is “fun and cute” and draws on “objects, colors and shapes and materials I find aesthetically pleasing.”

“Obvi I love the 90s because I lived in them but I have so much FOMO for the 60s/70s,” she adds. “I’m PISSED I wasn’t there and can’t even visit. It was just the best of times. Capitalism was booming, everything was beautiful, and there was just enough technology for us to survive happily.”

“My style icon? Probably Britney Spears or like Karen O or anyone who doesn’t care about what they’re wearing, but still have their own personal style that has evolved with them and hasn’t changed much.” For further information you can head to takesheyewear.com
