In November 2016, we spoke to Matt Martin and got the lowdown on Doomed Gallery, a photography and visual space based on Ridley Road in Dalston. Championing both up and coming and established photographers and artists with the can-do attitude of “Support the scene or you won’t have one” – we are ecstatic to announce Hunger’s very own Jack Buster will be exhibiting at Doomed alongside Street Sharpist Travis Moore.
Both artists from the opposite ends of the world, Australia and USA respectively, have come together in London to showcase their individual talent suitably tag-lined as “B&W meets Technicolor.” Inspired by his East London surroundings, marker pen enthusiast Travis depicts his experiences within his drawings whereas Jack focuses on the past seven years of travel experiences whilst experimenting on all materials he can get his hands on. In conversation, the artists’ work offers a unique exploration of the concept of location, colour and the divide between digital and analogue formats.
In addition to the work on display, both artists will be present at the gallery making live collaborative artworks. Portraits taken live at the gallery by Jack will then be illustrated by Travis on the spot to create unique artworks that represent the shared ground between two very different artists. See some of the respective artists’ individual work below and find out more about Doomed Gallery here.
Mashup takes place this weekend from Saturday 18th – Sunday 19th March with an opening evening on Thursday 16th from 6-9PM.
