True Romance: Five extra love-inspired V-day looks

[R]ed apparel is not for the faint-hearted (literally): it represents sex and strength and has even been said the raise the blood pressure of those who adopt the vigorous hue. I spoke to Dr Carolyn Mair a Reader in Psychology at London College of Fashion (UAL) about this very subject and can confirm red’s confidence-boosting effects: its lingering, burn-in-the-retina qualities are not to be rubbished.

Fashion’s love affair with all-things-crimson was showcased this season in the form of head-to-toe suiting at Versace (for the ultra brave); Princess Diana-worthy lapel coats at Marques Almedia (for the Modern Day Cinderella) and berry-toned 80s party gear at Saint Laurent (for Grace Jones fans).
