The film arrives this June.
[M]cQueen, the forthcoming documentary examining the life and legacy of the seminal designer Alexander McQueen will premiere this June 7th in London before a wider release into UK cinemas as of the following day. The full trailer has finally arrived and is filled with beautiful design, high drama and a sequence of gothic references.
Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, McQueen is billed as a comprehensive survey of the late designer’s life, exploring his time as chief designer at Givenchy (1996 – 2001), the remarkable rise of his eponymous label, his immeasurable contribution to the ‘Cool Britannia’ revolution and his indelible influence on fashion. The processes behind his subversive, often controversial designs, remain at the heart of the film.
The film will also attempt to explore McQueen’s world beyond fashion. McQueen tragically took his own life in 2010 aged 40, and his personal demons have been the subject of media speculation ever since. Via a series of interviews with friends, family and collaborators, McQueen seeks insight into the mind of a genius who battled his own personal demons to create some of his era’ defining artworks.
Watch the trailer below and stay tuned for the release on 8th June.
