It seems quite mad that we started working on issue nine of Hunger magazine a whole six months ago. Watching models strut down runways in AW15 collections, trying to align the team’s diaries to get us all in the one place at the one time to figure out what we wanted to say this time around, and then – well – actually shooting almost 500 pages seems like a distance memory. When each issue finally goes to print and we’ve read copy time and time again and agonised over the best shots there’s always mutterings of, ‘thank god that’s over!’, but then as soon as the first new issues arrive in the office it feels like seeing everything again for the fist time. Flicking through the pages and seeing the team’s shoots and interviews come to life makes every late night worth it. Every time.
And it’s this same feeling that we hope you get when you pick up this issue, Right Way Up. At Hunger we strive to ask questions, to challenge perceptions and hopefully open your eyes to something new each time open the magazine. There’s no right or wrong way of seeing anything, but what we present to you is our way. And we hope you like it.
So let’s dive in, then. By now you’ve probably all seen our four exclusive covers with burgeoning megastar Zendaya but if you know Hunger then you’ll know we love a cover (or twenty). Kicking off the issue we have models Charlotte Free, Sally Jonsson, Kai Newman and Ros Georgiou the wrong way up on our covers, swinging from our logo. And there’s more of them inside too. Catch Charlotte in our Chanel Cruise special, Sally Jonsson rocking red, Ros in this season’s most covetable coats and Kai decked out in Marc Jacobs’ latest collection.
