10 Questions with solo LA drummer girl Baby Bulldog

Meet the LA drummer addressing the pop's over-reliance on heteronormative narratives.

“Baby Bulldog is who I am – a masculine, butch woman, making music about women”, LA drummer Baby Bulldog is pulling few punches addressing the pop scene’s over-reliance on heteronormative narratives.

Writing and performing all of her songs from behind a drum kit, her tracks are two-minute, scuzz-pop bops that catch their audience halfway between shellshock and indie dance party.

Today she releases “Work on Things”, a track about wishing you were at home in bed. We can relate.

Get to know Baby Bulldog with 10 questions below..

Describe your music in three words

Raw. Honest. Real.

Who is your greatest influence?

I think my greatest influence is my Grandfather, who I called Papa. He was an extremely skilled carpenter, and self taught musician. He could play guitar, piano, mandolin and the list goes on. ALL SELF TAUGHT! Whenever I find myself getting down, or thinking I can’t do something musically – whether it be writing, or playing – I think of him and I know that I have access to the same creative wells to make it possible. I’ve never actually realized that into words before. whoa.

Did you like school?

Hmmm yes? I liked college way more than High School though. It was where I felt free enough to finally be myself, and I got to play rugby.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Refined teenage skater boy.

What’s your favourite way to spend $10?

Two beers, preferably both for me BUT I am also known to share.
