10 Questions with Swarmz

Get to know the rising East London rapper...

At just 22 years old, Brandon ‘Swarmz’ Scott is delivering some of the most vibrant music on the scene. Although having been making music since his school days, the rapper’s breakthrough single ‘Lyca’ gained over 18 million views on YouTube, making waves all over London and beyond. Blending his Jamaican and Bajan roots, Swarmz brings his rich culture into his creations, from melodic afro-swing to rich beats: it’s as full of heart as it is hustle. After his latest smash hit, ‘Bally’, and equally killer remix, we chat to Swarmz about where his music’s been taking him and what’s up next…

Describe your music in 3 words…

Sensational, Great, Wonderful.

My mum, she’s the reason I do my music and why I grind so hard in the studio. I wouldn’t be here or doing this without her.

I just love making it and listening to it, haha. Honestly, it’s part of my life, I can’t go a day without living and breathing it. It means a lot to me, it’s my main passion in life.

Who’s the last person you called?

Emmanuel.

What did you talk about?

We spoke about work and just life in general.

One item of clothing you couldn’t live without?

My trainers.

One album you couldn’t live without?

Meek Mill ‘Dream Chasers’. He’s one of my favourite artists ever and this album is a masterpiece!

What’s your favourite way to spend £10?

I’d go to the corner store and buy some sweets and a KA or fruit punch!

How about £100?

What’s next for you?

Just making and releasing more music to be honest. I’ve just put out the remix to my track “Bally” – that track has gone places I never thought it would! I’m looking forward to releasing more music and summer bangers for my fans, I can’t wait.
