A24 reveals first look at Ti West’s ‘X’ and ‘Pearl’ follow-up ‘MaXXXine’

Following the success of A24 horror sequels X and Pearl, the studio had recently announced the arrival of the upcoming third film of Ti West’s trilogy, MaXXXine.

Having announced that Halsey and Moses Sumney are to star in the upcoming A24 horror film, the studio has now shared that filming has begun for the third instalment of Ti West’s trilogy. The announcement was made in a tweet, with an image of a licence plate on a Mercedes-Benz. The plate read, “MAXXXINE,” while the caption said, “Day 1 #MaXXXine.”

MaXXXine is the sequel to X and Pearl, both of which were released last year. Mia Goth will reprise her role as Maixne Minx, a dancer and adult film actress who had goals of being a star in Hollywood, following the horrific events of the 2022 film.

The film takes place in the 1980s and sees Goth star alongside, Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.

In a previous interview, Goth told Variety that the third film has “the best script of the three by far.” She added, “It’s going to be the best movie of the three. It’s the biggest story of the three with the highest stakes and Maxine has gone through so much at this point. So when we find her in this new world, she’s just a force to be reckoned with and she goes through some pretty wild adventures.”
