Amanda Bynes’ parents ‘not considering’ new conservatorship amid psychiatric hold situation

The former child star phoned emergency services herself after she told witnesses she was coming down from a “psychotic episode”.

Amanda Bynes, the former Nickelodeon and She’s The Man star, has been placed on psychiatric hold following reports to TMZ she was seen roaming the streets of Los Angeles without any clothes. However, sources close to her family have revealed that this is an “anomaly”, and her parents aren’t considering another conservatorship for their daughter.

A few days prior, Bynes had pulled out of this year’s 90s Con panel in Connecticut, to which Kenan & Kel star Kel Mitchell took a moment to wish his former co-star a speedy recovery.

After citing illness for her absence, Bynes was seen walking through LA early Sunday morning alone and with no clothing. Eyewitnesses explained to TMZ that the 36-year-old actor waved down a car to get help, informing the passer-by that she was coming down from a “psychotic episode”. She then called emergency services herself.

A mental health team at a local police station concluded that Bynes be given more help, and has been placed under psychiatric hold at an unknown facility. This news comes almost one year after the child star was released from her nine-year conservatorship which was controlled by her mother, Lynn Bynes.

The conservatorship began in 2013 due to Bynes’ mental health state, where she allegedly set fire to her parent’s driveway and was placed under psychiatric hold following the incident. In 2014, Bynes had taken to social media in a four-hour-long string of tweets, concluding that “the microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s [her father] the one that ordered them to microchip me.” She publicly announced that she suffered from health issues and had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and her mother was then granted permanent control over her daughter’s estate.

The conservatorship officially came to an end on the 22nd of March last year with her parent’s support. They reveal they found solace when the star phoned the emergency services herself and don’t plan to re-enter the conservatorship.
