Ariana Grande just donated $300,000 Planned Parenthood
Ariana Grande has reportedly donated all of the proceeds to her June 8thAtlanta Show to Planned Parenthood. An estimated, $300,000 dollars was extended to the organization offering reproductive heath and sexual care education within the United States. This comes in lieu of the passing of the Alabama state bill on 14th May 2019. Becoming the ninth US state to make the procedure punishable by law, which totals that to, Arkansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Utah to name a few. Consequentially, criminalising virtually, all abortions (legal included) upon 6 weeks, with exceptions to women who may face critical danger if the birth were to be performed- in addition criminalising any of whom performing the abortion to face a felony of up to 99 years in prison.
This is a direct combatant of Roe v. Wade the 1973 case that faced the US Supreme court jury in defense of women’s rights to an abortion under the fourteenth amendment; “The Court held that a woman’s right to an abortion fell within the right to privacy (recognized in Griswold v. Connecticut)”. Many high profile celebrities have voiced their concerns and outrage to the increasing invasion into reproductive rights of women in the states and as a result of those in Ireland; however, we’re yet to see a repeal or criticism from senates or even the draconian Supreme court. Bleak times ahead as the Us quickly follows suit on the harsh reproductive and sexual health rights globally.
