Bill Murray is reportedly dating singer Kelis – and the internet is in disbelief
It wasn’t on our 2023 bingo card either, but waking up to find that Bill Murray was trending on Twitter alongside Kelis due to dating rumours… Could it get more random? Murray, the 72-year-old Ghostbusters actor, is best known for his works with the likes of stylised director Wes Anderson, and Kelis, the 43-year-old singer, hit the charts with 00s classics like ‘Milkshake’ and ‘Millionaire’.
Reports have speculated that the two have already been spotted out and about a number of times together in recent weeks. Fans noticed Murray attending the south London festival Mighty Hoopla on the 3rd of June, and then the jazz and soul festival Cross The Tracks the weekend before – both of which saw Kelis perform. Rumours also stated that the pair were seen together backstage before and after the shows.
Kelis was previously married to US rapper Nas, who passed away after battling cancer in March 2022. She has three children, one of which is with her ex-husband. Murray has been married twice and has six children altogether. He split from his second wife Jennifer Butler back in 2008, who died in January 2021.
The photo of the pair that is circling on Twitter is one of the singer and actor posing with musician Konny Kon from Children of Zeus at the Cross The Tracks festival. One user tweeted: “Kelis and Bill Murray? I’m just gonna toss my 2023 bingo card.” Another said “Well. I did NOT correctly guess why Bill Murray is trending.”
Others aren’t as surprised, referring to Murray’s “rizz” in Ghostbusters: “A generation of men got their rizz directly from Bill Murray.” One spectator of the news simply states “My man Bill Murray.” Neither party has confirmed the romance as of yet, but we will be keeping an eye on any upcoming festival dates of Kelis to see if Murray is lurking backstage. It seems 2023 is definitely the year of the most unexpected celebrity couple.
