Caan’s “High Tides” is three minutes of bittersweet escapism

The London artist tells us the best way to spend £100.

Caan’s new single “High Tides” sounds like an underwater escape. Lush hooks and abstract lyrics about getting high are underpinned by a soothing soundscape. The elements combine for three-and-a-half minutes of synthetic serenity.

Caan says the track is the beginning of a series of connected, narrative singles – “Ghost in my Head” and “On & On” are coming up next. The music was written in a period of self-reflection after a period of long weekends getting high. If “High Tides” is a blueprint for what Caan has to offer, then we’ll be waiting for more of this bittersweet escapism.
