Cassius’ Philippe ‘Zdar’ Cerboneschi has died after accidentally falling from building

The pioneering French producer and DJ had worked with the likes of The Beastie Boys, Kanye West and Phoenix.

Philippe ‘Zdar’ Cerboneschi, part of the duo Cassius, has died after accidentally falling from a building in Paris, he was thought to be in his early 50s.

Cassius has created some of the most prominent dance tracks of the late 90s and early noughties, playing on loop at raves across Ibiza, London and Miami. Their music is still as relevant now as it was twenty years ago, a new Cassius album, Dreems, was set to be released tomorrow.

Although arguably best known for his part in Cassius, Zdar was also highly celebrated as a producer, working with some of the biggest names in the industry – after his work on Phoenix’s debut album, artists from Beastie Boys to Kanye West wanted to work with Zdar.
