Charli XCX granted restraining order against “obsessive fan”

She! Deserves! Better!

On 24 and 25 August, a Charli XCX fan attempted to gain entry into her LA home – with the second visit ending in him stripping off, getting into her hot tub and strolling through her bedroom.  This, at least, is the story revealed in court documents (seen by TMZ) which also claimed that the man had sent her hundreds of obsessive messages on social media.

As of 2 September, Charli has been granted a temporary restraining order requiring the fan to maintain a hundred-metre distance from her, her home, her car and her job. She has also put her Hollywood Hills home, the site of the incident,  on the market.

While this is an extreme example,  it’s long been acknowledged that Charli’s fandom are the worst. Last year, the singer even had to come to the defence of fans who asked her to sign items like anal douches, bottles of poppers and the ashes of their dead mother at meet and greets – a trend which prompted articles and social media commentary claiming that the singer was being “exploited”.

Read Charli’s full statement from last year about her fans’ bad behaviour below. She has yet to publicly comment on the sale of her home or recent court proceedings.
