The American fashion house has released the third episode of Coach Conversations, its YouTube series about culture, community and creativity.
Coach has released the third episode of Coach Conversations, its monthly YouTube series about culture, community and creativity. This episode features model and former Vogue cover star Paloma Elsesser in conversation with singer-songwriter Yuna, as hosted by author and entrepreneur Meena Harris.
The three women embark on a wide-ranging discussion about representation, intersectionality, and maintaining autonomy within the patriarchy to coincide with Women’s History Month. Elsesser, Yuna and Harris also discuss the importance of having diverse role models, how they assert themselves in professional settings, and share the advice they would give their former (and future) selves.
Speaking of the importance of representation, Elsesser said: “Representation not only feels good, it’s imperative. It’s a necessity. There’s still so far for us to go, and I don’t believe that it stops with me. It better not.”
“When I first started out, I didn’t have anyone with a music career I could reference. It was, ‘Who do I refer to?’” said Yuna, also on the topic. “Maybe now I can be that person that I always wanted, that I needed when I was younger.”
Coach Conversations episodes are released to mark such moments as Black History Month and Pride, among others. Previous guests have included Michael B. Jordan, Cordae, Lindsay Peoples Wagner and Jennifer Lopez.
