Daniel W Fletcher Debuts First Womenswear Collection for AW21

The 'Next In Fashion' alum has diversified his offering and tapped TikTok twins Maddie and Margot Whitley to model.

Launched five years ago as a menswear label, Daniel W Fletcher is branching out into womenswear for AW21. Working close to his archive, the new arm of the business is intended to riff off of the motifs and details — such as top stitch denim, split-hem trousers and slim-fit silhouettes — that have littered Daniel W Fletcher’s designs since his debut half a decade ago.

Doubling down on his commitment to sustainability, the collection uses leftover fabrics, most notably in a checkered dress made with patchwork scraps that serves as the offering’s centrepiece.  Paying homage to British craftsmanship and heritage, the collection is built around the use of merino wool.

The 18 pieces are executed in a monochromatic palette with a healthy dose of nostalgia — both in the broad-shouldered “Diana” coat referencing the Princess of Wales and in the collection’s androgyny and masculine shapes, intended as a nod to young women’s wardrobes in the early noughties. There’s something for today’s youth, too, in Daniel’s decision to cast TikTok stars Maddie and Margot Whitley for the collection lookbook.
