Get Ready for Derrick Kakembo’s VERO Takeover

The photographer, filmmaker and creative director takes the helm of our account with a futuristic beauty story.

Beauty fans at the ready! From today,  HUNGER fave Derrick Kakembo will be kicking off a two-week-long takeover of our VERO account until 12 February.

If you’re a music fan, you may recognise Derrick as the photographer behind our Bree Runway DIY Issue cover story or from his work lensing musicians such as Giggs, Tkay Maidza, Post Malone and Stefflon Don. A true multihyphenate, you might also know him from his work as a creative director and filmmaker — or as the founder of independent cultural platform Reform the Funk.

Derrick has previously taken over our VERO account with a beauty pageant and prom themed-beauty story and now he’s back with a healthy dose of sci-fi-inspired beauty just in time for US Black History Month.

Throughout his takeover, Derrick will be bringing us curated recommendations of music, film and literature by Black cultural figures as well as the inside scoop on what was on his mood board for his futuristic shoot. Not to be missed!

VERO is an authentic social network — no ads, no algorithms, just great content. Go to vero.co to sign up and follow @hungermagazine for more exclusive content and to catch Derrick’s beauty takeover, which runs until  26 February.
