Derrick Kakembo’s VERO Beauty Takeover Is Here

Need some inspiration? The photographer's exclusive beauty story is sure to get your creativity flowing.

We’re excited to announce that, from today, Derrick Kakembo will be taking the keys to our VERO account until 23 October.

As part of his takeover, he will be showcasing an exclusive beauty story created alongside make up artist Adrian Rux and hair stylist Johanna Cree Brown. Drawing inspiration from prom queens and beauty from the 70s and 80s, this retro-glam shoot is the perfect antidote to the lacklustre note struck by 2020.

As well as insights into his creative process and career to date, Derrick will be recommending the films and music which inspire him – and which may well inspire you too. Perfect for budding photographers and cultural mavens alike.

As the founder and Head of Content for independent cultural platform Reform the Funk, Derrick spots culture’s unsung taste-makers while his work as a photographer, filmmaker and creative director explores the beauty and complexity of Blackness through compelling imagery.
