Diplo reveals he is “not, not gay” as he focuses on “vibes” rather than gender
Released on Tuesday, High and Low with EmRata invited DJ and producer Diplo to speak on the podcast. In the episode, he reveals his TikTok For You Page content and that he is on the lumberjack side of the social media platform.
Model and host Ratajkowski questioned Diplo about an off-camera conversation the two had the night before recording the podcast, to which he had said he was “a little gay.”
“Is that how you know that you’re not totally straight, from the wood-chopping?” she asked.
“Maybe,” the DJ replied. “The wood-chopping guys are kind of sexy. I mean, they’re hot guys, but I don’t know if that’s going to be the thing that’s going to set me over into the gay side totally.”
The conversation steered toward the content on their own TikTok accounts, to which Ratajkowski revealed she was on “lesbian TikTok for a minute,” calling it an “insightful” experience. Diplo agreed and praised how inclusive the app is compared to other social media.
Ratajkowski commended his ability to be “flexible” with his sexuality, as he added, “I don’t want to define that I’m gay, but I think the best answer I have is I’m not, not gay.” He also mentioned how there were “a couple of guys” he could date “life partner-wise,” but he is not “aroused by men that much.”
“I’m sure that I’ve got a blowjob from a guy before,” he revealed. “Getting a blow job is not that gay, I think, unless you make eye contact.” “That’s such a straight guy thing to say,” replied Ratajkowski.
Ending the conversation, Diplo explained how he is “more of a vibe guy,” as the two spoke about how more people are able to come out publicly. Throughout his career, Diplo had relationships with the likes of Katy Perry in 2014 and producer Chantel Jeffries in 2020, dating women primarily. He and his ex Kathryn Lockhart also share two sons, as he welcomed a third son with former Miss Universe contestant Jevon King in 2020.
