Distorted Beauty: Six collage artists to follow on Instagram
With its roots in the early 20th-century European Dadaist movement, itself an artistic reaction to an increasingly fragmented, disjointed post-First World War landscape, collage has consistently been able to straddle the surreal and serious with equal weight.
The medium remained popular throughout the last century, being most notably reimagined in the punk era when notions of political and civil unrest were brought to the fore by artists such Linder Sterling, so it seems unsurprising that, in our post-internet age, collage is once again being reimagined by the Instagram generation.
