Dreamland Margate unveil Turner head in time for Turner Prize 2019

Cool Shit, we're rollin'... rollin'...rolin'...

Picture this: You decide to take a weekend trip, not quite tropical, not quite city break and decide to embark on a sea-side vacay by the Kent coast of Margate. You all arrive at Dreamland, because, of course, you’re never too old to ride the big wheel. For you frill seekers out there scoffing at the concept of the big wheel… save it! We digress… So, you turn up to the the amusement park and what are you met by? It’s only a 7m x 7m Tina Turner head, of course!

Brought to you by the creative team behind Happy Kanye, what better way to celebrate the induction of the 2019 Turner Prize than, to first, exhibit a literal prize and second, deliver Turner. Dreamland Margate have been bursting at the seams to have their go at hosting the illustrious, biannual Visual British Arts prize and have finally christened that opportunity by commissioning this quirky masterpiece.

Turner Prize 2019 will be exhibited at Turner Contemporary from 28th September, and the winner will be announced in December.
