Elliot Page’s upcoming memoir to delve into “relationship with his body” and the Hollywood “cesspool”

Over a year after coming out as transgender, Elliot Page has announced that he is penning a memoir...

Pageboy — which is set to be released by Flatiron Books in 2023 — will see the actor speak candidly about his personal life, gender identity and mental health both within and out of the bounds of Hollywood.

The memoir “will delve into Page’s relationship with his body, his experiences as one of the most famous trans people in the world, and will cover mental health, assault, love, relationships, sex and the cesspool that Hollywood can be,” the publisher said to the Associated Press

Pageboy completely knocked the wind out of me,” Senior Editor, Bryn Clark, said of the book in the press release. “Elliot’s story pieces together a complicated coming of age where he struggles to maintain his strong sense of self in the face of a society that slowly fractures and fragments anyone who doesn’t fit into a binary-driven world.”

The 35-year-old will also delve into his acting career — from his beginnings in the psychological thriller, Hard Candy, to the indie drama, Juno, which won him an Academy Award nomination in 2007.

Back in December of 2020, Page came out as transgender via an Instagram post. “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life,” he wrote. “I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.”

The next year, in March of 2021, the Umbrella Academy star became the first transgender man to appear on the cover of Time magazine. In the interview, which was the first he gave since disclosing that he was trans, Page discussed his experience of undergoing top surgery — something that “completely transformed” his life.
