Everything we know about the Martin Margiela documentary

In recent years, fashion has opened its door to cameras and directors that have produced some of the most inspirational documentaries. From The First Monday in May, to Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer and McQueen, people have finally been able to take a peek at the behind the scenes of this glamorous industry.

In May 2018, the Dries Van Noten documentary’s director Reiner Holzemer, announced a new fashion film in collaboration with Danish designer Martin Margiela.

In an exclusive interview with Variety, film company Dogwoof commented: “We are thrilled to work on the story of such an enigmatic ​and mysterious ​designer; and even more so given that extraordinarily, it’s the first time Margiela has agreed to be part of any film about his life or work.”

Until now, there has been little to no information about the mysterious documentary. Two days ago, an Instagram account named @margielainhisownwords shared a post with the caption: “Finalizing the edit of the Martin Margiela documentary – Martin Margiela In his own Words – in collaboration with Martin Margiela.”

The post confirms Reiner Holzemer as the director and names Aminata Productions as co-producer. The music for the film will be by Belgium band dEUS and film company Dogwoof will still be a part of the project. It also shows a change of title from Without Compromise to Martin Margiela In His Own Words.
