Fake Love: A Chanel Beauty Story

“I like to give makeup the freedom to travel."

High-shine powders, intense pigmentation and radiant contrasts: CHANEL’s Spring Summer 2019 makeup collection Vision D’Asie: L’Art Du Détail plays with light and luminosity in spectacular ways.

“I like to give makeup the freedom to travel,” says Lucia Pica, global creative make-up and colour director for Chanel. “I never want to restrict women to conventions or clichés of perfection.”

From a glimmer of fish scales captured at a market in Tokyo to a nest of wires shot suspended over a side street in Seoul, Pica was captivated by the beauty of everyday details whilst travelling in East Asia. “Such a close-up appreciation of quiet beauty and the elevation of the humblest of objects has inspired a richly nuanced makeup collection.”

Take a playful look behind the scenes at our new Chanel Beauty shoot ‘Fake Love’ from HUNGER #16, the Speak Your Truth issue. All make-up by Ninni Nummela using CHANEL Vision d’Asie: L’Art du Détail, CHANEL Rouge Coco Flash and CHANEL Hydra Beauty Camellia Water Cream available at chanel.com.
