Five emerging Berlin fashion designers to get on your radar

From 90s-inspired streetwear to pastel dream designs loved by Lady Gaga, here’s Hunger’s pick of the rising Berlin-based designers you really need on your radar…

Danny Reinke

Franziska Michael

Franziska Michael launched back in 2009 after graduating from ESMOD in Berlin. But she’s finally gaining recognition as a frequent addition to Berlin Fashion Week with avant-garde streetwear that is “spontaneously refreshing and juggling with extremes”, in her own words. The 90s inspired clothes are playfully unique and androgynous with a DIY edge.

Marina Hoermanseder

Founded in 2013, French-Austrian Marina Hoermanseder’s eponymous label is a sugary utopia of neon pink corsets, love-hearts and a whole lot of buckles. Based in Berlin, Hoermanseder is another ESMOD graduate and her boldly eccentric designs are fabulous. Lady Gaga thinks so too, recently spotted at NYC pride donning the rainbow belt jeans.

Ivanman

Yet another ESMOD graduate, Serbian-born Ivanman Mandzukic is the guy behind this Berlin menswear label. Made in 2010, Ivanman has a frequent slot at Berlin Fashion Week. The most recent collection was very Off-White, but we love it; block colours and clean cut streetwear. He’s onto great things.

William Fan

William Fan debuted his eponymous label at Berlin Fashion Week in 2015 and has served ageless and genderless collections ever since. Educated at Artez in Arnhem, Netherlands, before launching his label he worked for McQueen’s couture house. Combining his Asian heritage with his European upbringing, William Fan is all about minimalist streetwear. But most importantly, we really love his bamboo earrings.
