Fontaines D.C frontman Grian Chatten strikes out on his own with debut solo single

The success of Fontaine’s D.C sees their frontman branch out for a new introspective solo single, ‘The Score’.

Fontaine’s D.C.’s lead vocalist Grian Chatten has shared his debut solo single this Tuesday 25th of April, titled ‘The Score’. Between a hectic touring schedule with the band, the frontman has been coining his own work based on personal self-reflection.

In a press release for the tune, Chatten describes ‘The Score’ as a “heavyweight bated breath of lust.” He adds: “I wrote it in Madrid between an electric fan and a dying plant and I intend to keep it there. It was inspired by sugar and sunset.”

This shift from collaborative to solo will detail the Irishman’s own headspace and will come after the band recently debuted at number one in both the UK ad Ireland with their third critically acclaimed album, Skinty Fia.

Fontaines D.C also recently took home the BRIT award for International Group of the Year following the 2020 A Hero’s Death, which was nominated for Best Rock Album at the ‘21 Grammys.

Streaming now on all platforms via Partisan Records, Chatten’s accompanying music video directed by Georgie Jesson is detailing a new era for the singer. And if it’s anything like the sweet dusk he describes this record as, we wait eagerly for what’s over the horizon.
