Get in the festival mood with Arielle Free’s Glastonbury playlist

The BBC Radio 1 DJ gives us her tips for the best tracks to soundtrack your Worthy Farm experience.

It’s that time of year again when we all sit in eager anticipation of returning to Worthy Farm for yet another edition of the UK’s most iconic festival, Glastonbury. By now, you’ve probably sorted your camping gear (we’d hope), travel arrangements and most importantly, booze – but what you’re probably missing is a selection of tunes to get you in the mood. Obviously, we’ve done the heavy lifting for you, or should we say BBC Radio 1 DJ Arielle Free has, so that you can focus on your last-minute prep. Free, who will be performing no less than twice herself at the festival, has put together a curated playlist that’ll ensure the good vibes ebb and flow en route to the festival and around the campsite all week long.

Kitty Amour and Somedina – ‘I Saw An Angel On The Roof & Wept’

Kitty is firmly on my radar as someone who is on the trajectory. Perfectly submerging her Nigerian routes with a classic house sound. Her percussive-led sets take you on a journey ending on the mother of all highs! See her at Village Cuts’ takeover at Babylon Uprising 5-6pm on Thursday 22nd June.

King Of The Rollers and Katy B – ‘Paradise’

Katy B, we’ve known for a while, but her b2b with rising star Emerald is sure to be a moment at Glasto! Emerald has been climbing the ranks at Rinse, and these two London girls will be bringing the freshest cuts to the photon fields. It’ll be a set which will get people sweating and skanking from the word go.

Jessie Ware – ‘Free Yourself – Eats Everything Remix’

Eats Everything is one of the most accomplished, knowledgeable and technical DJs around. This year at Glastonbury, he’s doing a special jungle set for his History of Rave takeover at Stonebridge on Thursday! The rest of the line-up is pretty tasty too. A Thursday pilgrimage!

Charlotte Plank and Storm Mollison – ‘Lost Boys – Storm Mollison Remix’

Off the back of a much-hyped Fabric all-night set that people have been talking about for months, Storm takes to the Stonebridge stage to show us her eclectic mix of house, deep house, electronic and her own productions, which are just incredible.

Gina Breeze and Alissa Brianna – ‘Feel My NRG’

I had the pleasure of witnessing Gina’s set at Mighty Hoopla in June and it was mesmerising. Glitterbox is taking over the Greenpeace stage on the Friday for the first time at Glastonbury, and Gina is a part of the line-up. Make sure you’re there; it’s going to go off. Expect house music of all flavours with a little bit of disco sprinkled on top.

Melle Brown ft. Loie – ‘Night Drift’

Melle is an incredibly gifted DJ with a soul-infused house sound. I’ve never seen her play the same set twice, and she’ll transport you to another planet with her exemplary selections. She’ll be at the Glitterbox takeover at Greenpeace 10:30pm on Friday.

Niks – ‘Can You Feel The Beat’

The NTS resident has been doing bits in the London club scene, and it’s time for her to take her electro-focused sound far and wide. Her edit of ‘Can You Feel The Beat’ is a weapon, and I’m excited to witness her in the Block9 area after hours – the witching hour at Glastonbury.

La La – ‘OTHER’

The Scottish native is the ultimate crate digger, and she’s been hard at work fine-tuning her production muscles. Her debut LP is a mixed bag of dark lo-fi electronic, mind-bending edits and underground disco vibes. She plays The Levels Friday eve.

Jyoty – Boiler Room (2019)

Jyoty takes over the lonely hearts club on Thursday evening with a jam-packed eclectic party line-up. She absolutely tears it up behind the decks and, in my opinion, is the most exciting DJ out there, with her sets spanning all genres with a focus on hip-hop, which she edits into plenty of bangers.

Arielle Free and Jake Shears – ‘Technicolour Kenny’

Having just launched my label, Free Your Mind, ‘Technicolour Kenny’ is my first release on the label after waiting two years to get it out to the world. I’ll be playing the BBC Introducing Stage with a special b2b with MONKI 7:20-8pm and then heading to the mighty Glade for my own solo set at 9-10pm to set the Glastonbury Glade field alight! This will be my second time DJing there, and I honestly can’t wait to be in the most magical place in the world again!
