Greyson Chance is very online

We caught up with the musician and social media savant for his thoughts on baby yoda, dating apps and getting blocked by exes.

If it’s one thing Greyson Chance knows, it’s the Internet. First rising to fame at 12 with a viral talent show performance of “Paparazzi” he quickly signed to a major record label. But after getting dropped at the age of 15, he became disillusioned with the industry. Getting back to basics to cultivate his own sound and reconnect with music, away from the media hype, he jumped back on our radar with comeback album Portraits in 2019. Now, at the age of 22, he’s cultivated a fresh sound that’s eagerly lapped up by his 656,000-strong legion of Instagram followers.

We caught up with the musician for a quick-fire DM convo about baby yoda, dating apps and getting blocked by exes.

@hungermagazine: What’s your earliest Internet memory?

@greysonchance: Either watching the first Gaga videos around 2008, or getting on Rollercoaster Tycoon forums to learn cheat codes.

@hungermagazine:What are your five most-used emojis?

@greysonchance: 😌💙😈🤤 My friends give me a lot of flack for using these 4 so prolifically

@hungermagazine: You’ve switched to private mode on Spotify: what are you listening to?

@greysonchance: All of my guilty pleasures from the 90s.

@hungermagazine: Do you use dating apps? Which ones?

@greysonchance: I’ve actually never downloaded or used a dating app. I’ve never felt the desire to do so.

@hungermagazine: Have you ever been blocked?

@greysonchance: I am definitely blocked by a few ex-boyfriends. Their loss though!

@hungermagazine: Last person you stalked on IG?

@greysonchance: Cyndi Lauper.

@hungermagazine: What’s your most-used app? Why?

@greysonchance: My Voice Memos app. It’s the best way that I can quickly record melodies and lyrical ideas. It’s stacked full with a lot of songs, both finished and unfinished.

@hungermagazine: What’s the longest you can go without being on your phone?

@greysonchance: An insanely long time. I don’t like my phone or the internet on most days. I wish I could live without it.

@hungermagazine: Favourite meme?

@greysonchance:
