HUNGER PREMIERE: Miraa May drops empowering visuals for ‘Sad’

The Tottenham songbird opens up in honest track with playful visuals to boot.

Dropping her five track EP in early December, Miraa May has put her heart on her sleeve for the world. The aptly titled Care Package documents the artist’s coming of age as she throws herself wholeheartedly into life and love, and delves deep into the after effects.

‘Sad’ is a track with a difference though: about as intimate and raw as they come, the song takes us on a journey through Miraa’s stream of conscious. Describing the process to HUNGER, the artist explained “I had a session scheduled with Oscar Sheller and on that day I was explicitly sad”, instead of holding it in, she “expressed this to Oscar and he was feeling similar so we both decided to create Art out of our shared emotion of both feeling sad”.

In the accompanying visuals, Miraa May rides through the pain and takes herself out on a date. Exploring self care and love, she wants audiences to take away the understanding that “it’s ok to be sad and no one can question you about that”. In three words, the rising star explains ‘Sad’ is “Very Fucking Honest”, so what more could you want?
