HUNGER PREMIERE: Rhett Nicholl is back with emotive new single ‘Waves’

Take a trip to the star's family home in this emotive new visual...

Back with his second offering of the year, North London’s Rhett Nicholl has brought us a soulful new track to start of the new season. Entitled ‘Waves’, the single is an emotive story, with touching visuals to match, taking us on a visceral journey into his intimate moments in the star’s childhood home.

Perhaps his most personal endeavour yet, Rhett wrote ‘Waves’ after a dark period in his life when he was unable to make music. Recording his creation in a cathartic moment, the track focuses on a plea to stay safe and find light in the darkness. With a gospel-tinged melody, the single is an eloquent look into Rhett Nicholl’s musical existence and mind. Talking of the track, Rhett explained:

“’Waves’ is essentially an abstract. The lyrics run deep for me; but I think the point of Gospel is to be universally accessible.  Really I was just having a proper ‘”Romeo & Juliet” / ”When Doves Cry”’ moment. I channelled this idea of singing alone in a church, confessing sins and begging forgiveness – with this undertone relishing in telling a story about obsession, of knowing the outcome and still following it to its end.  Ultimately its an echo of the statement that “All writers of confessions have remained a little in love with their sins”.
