HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER's Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what's hot, what's not, and what needs to be on your radar…

Kicking off this week’s MVP is fashion rental and resale service, Rites. As we shift from fast fashion to sustainability, Rites is hoping to be at the forefront of that movement and hopefully save you a bit of cash along the way. Rites have a plethora of luxury fashion brands at your disposal including Prada, Stella McCartney, Reformation and Ganni. If you’re looking to take your wardrobe in a greener direction, without sacrificing style, then why not take a look at what the service has to offer.

Next up we’ve got the Aries x RETROSUPERFUTURE collab, with the two brands coming together for the first time for an exclusive eyewear collection. The collection is produced in Italy and combines Aries’ renowned sports-luxe aesthetic with refined colourways and materials. The two brands partner up to see the re-release of the brand’s iconic ZED silhouette. The ZED is equipped with high-tech features such as its semi-flat lens as well as flexible hinges with classic Aries gold detailing throughout.

Pioneers of sustainable fashion and cult label Damson Madder have released their first outerwear and knitwear collection alongside an extended offering of accessories. The collection is full of vibrant knits and matching two pieces, which are perfect for the upcoming autumn months.

Fancy some reading this week? We’re tucking into Dylan Jones’ Faster Than A Cannonball, 1995 and All That, which is available for preorder now. It sees Jones chart the mid-Nineties — a time of huge cultural upheaval, in art, literature, publishing, and yes, drugs. Expect to delve into Britpop (Oasis v Blur), Trainspotting, Radiohead, and more. Ahh, nostalgia.

Finally, this week’s coveted MVP spot goes to singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Banks, who recently released his latest album, Lies About The War. Banks instantly captures the attention with his experimentation and unique blend of neo-soul and alternative R&B. This is the Nigerian-born crooner’s sophomore album, and thankfully he more than meets expectations with an album that simply demands a spot in your rotation. Following the album’s release, Banks has announced his upcoming North American & European Tour that kicks off on September 28th.
