HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER's Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what's hot, what's not, and what needs to be on your radar…

Kicking off this week’s MVP is Belgian hip hop duo blackwave who have just released their latest album, ‘no sleep in LA.’ The duo effortlessly mix elements of soul, funk, jazz and hip hop throughout the impressive 11-track project. To celebrate their latest release, blackwave have partnered up with Belgian perfume brand Miglot to create a unisex scent, allowing you the unique experience of not only hearing the album but smelling it too.

Carrying on the musical releases this week is Channel Tres who has blessed us with his new single, ‘No Limit.’ The Compton native has already picked up a few famous fans in everyone from Elton John to Tyler, the Creator and it’s easy to see why with this latest effort. ‘No Limit’ sees Tres lay smooth and silky vocals over a groovy and dance floor-filling beat.

Taking the crown of this week’s MVP is none other than former HUNGER cover star Tim Burgess, who released his latest album, Typical Music, today. Yet another stellar addition to The Charlatans star’s already stacked discography, the 22-track album displays Burgess’ impressively diverse musical range. Whether he’s exploring the soundscapes of psych-pop or sci-fi sonics, Burgess sounds just as comfortable as ever, allowing his endearing personality to shine through with ease. As if that wasn’t enough, accompanying the release of the album is a charming animated music video for standout cut ‘Flamingo.’
