HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER's Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what's hot, what's not, and what needs to be on your radar…

Halloween may be just around the corner, but it’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit, which you can certainly do with Crosstown’s Christmas 2022 collection. The award-winning doughnut company’s latest collection features three new mouth-watering doughnuts, including brown butter and chestnut and black forest cake, as well as dough bites, ice creams and curated gifting options.

Next up, Bombay Sapphire has partnered up with world-renowned director Baz Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge) to launch their new campaign, Saw This, Made This. The campaign invites people to capture and share on social media what they see in the world that creatively inspires them and what they have subsequently made, using #SawThisMadeThis. Through collaboration with hundreds of artists and creators from various disciplines, the campaign will feature before-and-after ‘Saw This, Made This’ videos and photos, demonstrating how people can reframe the world around them and turn that inspiration into creative expression. The campaign will close in 2023 in an awe-inspiring showcase of the world’s creativity in partnership with global arts organisations in London and New York.

Sustainable denim brand, Dala, has recently launched its new website. Pieces from the brand are designed in London and produced in Paraguay, with each piece designed with personality in mind. The brand combines vintage washing and heritage techniques with contemporary styling to elevate denim daywear into something far more uniquely exciting. Dala produces its jeans without polluting or abrasive chemicals, using lasers and ozone treatments to texture the denim instead. Jeans are then hemmed with bar tacks, allowing you to cut the legs to the correct length at home. Plus, sizes range from 24-44 waist, ensuring the perfect fit for you is never too far away.

This week’s MVP is reserved for photographer Iakovos Kalaitzakis’ latest book, Side Faces. The book is a 210-page celebration of the liberation we find from within after accepting and exploring femininity and masculinity. Side Faces features subjects shot in two contrasting looks, showcasing the balance between masculine and feminine qualities, along with the singular essence that connects both.
