HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER's Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what's hot, what's not, and what needs to be on your radar…

First up in this week’s MVP we have Fousheé, who just released her latest album, softCORE. The project sees the artist explore an eclectic range of genres – from alt-rock to folk and pop – without sacrificing her ability to create a cohesive body of work. Overall, softCORE is a punk album in its truest form, where Fousheé refuses to conform to musical norms throughout. Project opener ‘simmer down’ is an example of the singer at her explosive best over fast-paced, almost manic production. While cuts like ‘unexplainable’ and closer ‘let u back in’ present a glistening example of Fousheé’s expressive vocal range and poignant introspection. If you’re looking for an album just as appropriate for a rowdy grunge-flavoured gig as it is a good cry, this is the one for you.

With the World Cup kicking off in just a couple of days, New Balance and Stone Island have teamed up to give us the kit of every fashion-loving football fan’s dreams. Chelsea and England winger Raheem Sterling fronts the campaign for the kit – which also includes the new Furon V7 Boot. Sterling will debut the boots – featuring a new custom camouflage pattern that pays homage to Stone Island’s famous textile archives – on the pitch himself at the World Cup. As for the kit, it includes an original Stone Island camouflage pattern along with corresponding shorts, complete with the Compass logo silicone badge. The collection is available on pre-sale via the Stone Island website on November 21st and will be available on general release on the New Balance website and select stores from November 25th.

The Stussy x Dries van Noten collaboration is finally here, so it’s only fitting that it takes the crown of this week’s MVP. A glimpse at the pieces on show includes sophisticated blazers outfitted with sequined pinstripes alongside trippy parkas adorned with psychedelic patches. The psychedelia doesn’t stop there, with lilac acid wash hoodies depicting infinity signs and mushrooms also finding a place in the collection. Denim jeans and jackets are covered in floral prints, while three-quarter length shorts add a splash of colour with swirls of pink and purple. The collection is now available to shop on the official Stussy and Dries Van Noten website, as well as all Dover Street Market locations.
