HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER's Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what's hot, what's not, and what needs to be on your radar…

Adding a little spice to this week’s MVP and Christmas period is Nando’s, who have teamed up with Tottenham-based art and design studio Packets & Tabasco on an exclusive side table. Now, Nandos and furniture aren’t exactly synonymous with one another, but somehow, this just works. Featuring Nando’s unmistakable logo applied as a monogram-inspired print and Packet & Tabasco’s vintage design inspiration, the table comes with a toughened glass finish on top of raw metal hairpin legs.

Obviously, it’s Christmas time, so your music taste has probably been reduced to the same old cheesy festive songs we hear every year on repeat without fail. So, if there’s ever a better time to freshen up your listening habits, it’s now, which is where our next inclusion comes in. Zinoleesky, one of Nigeria’s most promising rising talents, has today released his highly anticipated sophomore EP, GRIT N LUST. The 8-track effort sees the musician offer up his signature sound of afrobeats, amapiano and electronic dance music, although this time it’s taken to new heights. The opener, ‘Personal’ sees Zinoleesky reflect on the difficulties an artist on the rise faces today, whilst ‘Odinaka’ sees the star serenading a new flame over sensual production. If you’re looking to add a ray of sunshine to your playlists during this cold winter, then look no further. With GRIT N LUST, Zinoleesky has well and truly cemented himself as one of the leaders of Nigeria’s new school.

Finally, crowned as this week’s MVP is Shanghai-based brand SHUSHU/TONG, who have partnered with ASICS to create two extravagantly gothic pairs of trainers. The shoes wouldn’t look out of place on Wednesday Addams’ feet, appearing in the fashion label’s signature neutral white and black colour palette. The chunky, classic ASICS silhouette is topped off with bows attached to the tongue, adding a layer of femininity. If you’re looking to have yourself a goth-girl Christmas, the SHUSHU/TONG x ASICS footwear collaboration is available to shop here.
