HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER’s Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what’s hot, what’s not, and what needs to be on your radar...

GAUGE81, the luxury womenswear brand born between Bogotá and Amsterdam, is kicking off this week’s MVP with their latest eye-catching collection, High Summer 2023. The collection takes inspiration from the feeling of freedom one feels in summer in the city, exploring scorching streets in search of fresh and exciting possibilities. Contrast, as always with GAUGE81, plays a key part in High Summer, with juxtaposing textures, hues and cuts present throughout. Textured woven linen offers up a natural yet tailored aesthetic, while matte sequins and silk jersey bring an added element of gloss to the collection. With vibrant, summer-ready hues on display, including scarlet, reef, cumin and storm, the pieces are sure to add a radiant finish to your summer rotation of fits. Standout pieces in the collection include BELEM, a maxi skirt just as fitting for those scorching days as it is a quaint summer’s evening, VINAS, a simplistic yet essential cut-out top; and MAROON, an intricately detailed pleated mini skirt. For those looking for something with a little more attitude, there’s the party-ready MEDEVI skirt, as well as the playful MONI dress. Closing out the key pieces from the collection is the stunning INA maxi dress, serving as an ode to the female form, and the sleek GRAVIA.

Who better to bring the design collection of the summer than the cult candle brand Diptyque? This season, their latest decoration collection launch, ‘Light and Shadow,’ is an exploration of their staple designs in the realms of summer. This will mark Diptyque’s second launch of the year, orienting its works around the outdoors and the simplicity of the seasonal weather. Aiming to travel a journey with each flicker, the long-established tradition of artistic collaborations continues with this collection. Each object, made in France and Portugal, brings together expertise from across Europe to meet the brand’s heritage. With items including candleholders and tableware, the collection is now available to shop on the Diptyque website here.

Next, AMIRI have debuted their effortlessly laid-back Pre-Fall 2023 campaign, channelling the California mindset. The collection is influenced by DIY techniques and inspired by travelling and exploration. Menswear captures a unique sense of freedom through tailored beach-ready sets doused in pastel hues. Meanwhile, the women’s collection indulges in utilitarian aesthetics with multi-pocket cargo pants alongside tailored trousers adorned with various utility pockets.

Finally, if you’re still on the hunt for summer motives (we’re sure you are), DJ/producer trio MVSON COLLECTIVE are holding the second edition of their much-loved one-dayer MVSON WORLD – which takes place at Manchester Barton Aerodrome on July 15th.
